The Holiday Doctor

We have launched a new app to give all our customers complete peace of mind on holiday. Brought to you by Eliza was here and AXA, the new Holiday Doctor app allows you to easily arrange a teleconsultation with an English speaking doctor while travelling. A doctor will be available 24 hours a day to assist you with any medical concerns you may have on holiday. 

How does it work? 

  • Simply open the Eliza was here app via your smartphone, tablet or laptop.
  • Go to the menu and click on 'holiday doctor'.
  • Click on the telephone icon to arrange a teleconsultation with a doctor. 

All Holiday Doctor calls will be conducted via a UK telephone number. After a short telephone conversation, a consultation with a doctor will be arranged within, approximately, 1 hour. The doctor will discuss your complaints and make a diagnosis. After they have made their diagnosis they will offer their recommendations and, write a prescription if needed, which will be made available through a nearby pharmacy.

Is using the Holiday Doctor for a teleconsultation different from a physical consultation with a general practitioner?

The only difference between a teleconsultation and a physical consultation is that the conversation will happen over the phone. You will be speaking to a general practitioner and can seek medical advice and treatment options, if needed.

Is the Holiday Doctor an emergency service?
No, the Holiday Doctor is not an emergency service. In the case of a medical emergency, we strongly recommend that you immediately call the local emergency services. 

Use the Holiday Doctor app if you are unsure about the nature of your emergency or have concerns about your current health status. Access this teleconsultation service via the Eliza was here app to get a consultation from a doctor who will provide you with medical guidance or refer you to the local emergency services.

When should I use the Holiday Doctor? 

Contact the Holiday Doctor if you or your child have cold and flu symptoms, allergies, upper respiratory infections, rashes, muscle aches and related problems. Our GP can also help you with prescription renewals, scans and blood tests.

How does it work?

Do I have to pay for a teleconsultation with the Holiday Doctor? 
No. The Holiday Doctor is free. You have access to an unlimited number of teleconsultations. 

Will I be reimbursed for my medical expenses? 

Yes, but only in accordance with the terms of your travel insurance policy, if you have one. We always strongly recommend you check your travel insurance policy. Medical expenses are the same, even if you use the Holiday Doctor.

How do I get a prescription? 

If the doctor prescribes a prescription during your teleconsultation, this will either be delivered to you or available for collection from a local pharmacy. The doctor will advise what applies to you depending on where you are.

Protecting and securing access to your personal information is our priority. Our service is fully compliant with the applicable laws and regulations of each jurisdiction, and in particular with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 206/679 (“the GDPR”). With the Eliza was here app, you always have all your booking details on hand. Whenever you need to access your travel details or a document, it’s all available to you at any time.

We will also send you notifications about important information or changes via the app. For example, if you have booked an airport transfer through us, we will send you an update about your departure time from the resort. We recently also launched the Holiday Doctor, which allows you to arrange a teleconsultation with a doctor 24 hours a day.
