Cyprus is sometimes called the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Due to its location, this island belongs to Asia, but because of its politics and culture, it is also considered to be part of Europe. It is a special island that never ceases to surprise me. My friend Helena told me that, according to Greek mythology, Aphrodite was born on this island. Wherever she appeared, barren ground changed into blooming fields and bright flowers appeared. It cannot be a coincidence that the Goddess of Beauty was born here! On a short holiday in Cyprus, I can't wait to see this beauty.
From a holiday by the sea to a holiday in an authentic country house, anything is possible during a trip to Cyprus. You will also find villas on this island where you can enjoy a family holiday. These locations are wonderfully spacious so there is room for everyone. Some even have a private pool, so you can take a refreshing dip at any time of day.
Do you want to book a sunny holiday to Cyprus? On this Mediterranean island, I have many small locations that are very popular and can fill up quickly. Want to see more holidays? Then browse through my latest discoveries or go on a last minute holiday to Cyprus.
Good to know: a flight to Cyprus always includes a rental car and accommodation. You can easily visit the different places in Cyprus on a fly & drive holiday. The island has a good road network. In the Troodos Mountains, the roads are narrow and winding, requiring extra care. It is also important to bear in mind that people drive on the left in Cyprus.
Tip: If you book a holiday by air with me, a rental car from the smallest category is always included. It is also possible to book a car with a more powerful engine so you can get up the steep roads more easily. You can upgrade the car during the booking process, for an additional charge.
When I travel in Cyprus, I enjoy the cultural splendours such as the excavations, forts and castles. For example, at the royal tombs at Pafos, the Roman theatre at Kourion or the archaeological park Kato Pafos. In spring, I enjoy the blossoming nature when pink flowers appear all over the island. At the protected Lara beach, I admire the sea turtles that lay their eggs here. And on the beautiful beaches I relax during my sunny holiday, before returning home to my authentic holiday home.
The cuisine of Cyprus is very diverse due to the different influences. In the taverns of Cyprus, whole families often work hard to put a tasty local meal on the table. I often choose a dish with kolokasi, sweet potato or pourgouri, bulgur. Of course, when holidaying in Cyprus, you can also enjoy various fresh fish dishes, but meat is also well represented. What's more, the wines should certainly not be forgotten. Try, for example, a commandaria – a sweet dessert wine. It is also said to be the oldest named wine in the world. A special piece of Cyprus.
Cyprus has a mild climate in the early and late season and hot summer months. In summer, it is one of the sunniest islands in Europe, the ideal destination for a beach holiday. The sun shines all year round. The summers are therefore long and warm, the winters mild. That is why it is a great destination for a holiday in the late summer or during the winter sun period.
