"The charm of Cyprus!" I smile from ear to ear. Once you arrive at the ancient Charma House, overlooking the Akamas nature reserve and the village of Goudi, I can only say that charm, or Charma, rules.
The typical Cypriot country house had been owned by the Cacoyiannis family for many years. They grew produce on the land and lived the quiet life that Goudi has to offer. One day, the kindly pensioner Savvas decided to take over from his mother and renovate the house. While preserving the ancient style and using materials from the surrounding area. He built four charming apartments around the swimming pool, made the flowers and palms bloom in the garden and made sure there were windows and seats everywhere overlooking the beautiful nature reserve. This morning, I drove into the town of Goudi and the local life immediately charmed me. Savvas was literally waiting for me with open arms and immediately I tasted the fresh fruit from his family's land. I was allowed to choose an apartment, but they were all equally beautiful with the wooden ceilings and furnishings in the atmosphere of the island.
And now here I am, by the pool. In front of me is the valley up to Chrysochou Bay. "As a boy, I used to sit here for hours, staring and dreaming about what I wanted to be when I grew up," laughs Savvas.
