Well-rested, I woke up in a large bed in a modern suite at Villa D'oro. Efstratios, the owner, had made me a lavish breakfast. Marvelling at the gorgeous blue sea, I walked to the terrace and sank into the lounge sofa. ‘Good morning, Eliza, did you sleep well?’, Efstratios asked. I told him I hadn’t slept this good in ages and how great it was to be back at the gorgeous Villa D'oro.

A refreshing sea breeze kissed my hair and slowly woke me up. The breakfast looked delicious and I took a bite of a freshly baked croissant. I had spent my first day at the private beach with one of my favourite books.

Efstratios is full of good ideas and loves to show me around the island. ‘Today I’ll take you to a remarkable historic town called Meteora. There are monasteries built right among the rocks! You won’t believe your eyes and the view is breathtaking!’ Efstratios said with excitement in his voice. The butterflies in my belly told me I had to see for myself and I told Efstratios that I was in. But first, it was time for a magnificent massage at Villa D'oro’s beauty salon.
