As I was driving down the gorgeous country roads in the north east of Corfu, I came across a unique little gem called Kumquart. I drove onto the estate while enjoying the view of citrus trees and the sound of cicadas. What a mood booster! A magnificent little spot surrounded by the sounds of nature.
I saw modern apartments with a Mediterranean touch, situated in a green environment. Alexandra and Nikos had spotted me and gestured for me to take a seat. Alexandra brought a tray with all kinds of local and home-made delicacies. Clearly a hostess who likes to welcome you to the extreme.
They told me that the style of their location represents their vision on life itself. An environmentally friendly spot in a rural location and fresh fruit within arm’s reach. They designed the place together; Alexandra is an architect and Nikos has a passion for greenery and the ecosystem. Designing a sustainable location had always been her dream. The attention to detail is striking; my room was infused with the delicious aroma of lavender, my pillow decorated with dried lavender leaves. Every room and bathroom is different while loyal to the theme. A deliberate choice by Alexandra and Nikos who wanted to emphasise the uniqueness of life.
After a pleasant conversation, I rented a Kumquart bike and headed out to explore the area. Niko had told me about a beautiful beach called Timoni Beach. He was absolutely right. As I strolled over to the beach, I noticed that it is situated in a double bay. The stunning views alone were worth the hike.
