As I was driving through the harbour town of Sivota, I saw why this place is also known as the ‘Caribbean’ of Greece. The coast features rocky coves, beautiful bays and exquisite beaches. The town is surrounded by hills filled with olive trees and pine trees!
I finally arrived at Villaggio Sitoutis. The owner Dimitrios rushed over to help with my suitcase. As we took a seat by the bar, my stomach began to rumble. Audibly. Dimitrios couldn’t help but laugh. ‘What will it be for lunch, Greek or Italian?’, he asked. I was up for Greek.
Dimitrios’ father is Greek and his mother is Italian. They grow most of the vegetables, fruits and herbs in their own garden, so there was no doubt in my mind that I would soon be presented with something delicious! I had only just arrived and Dimitrios’ hospitality made this place feel like home already!
