Sometimes I spend days looking for that perfect location and sometimes it turns out to be closer than I had thought. Take Casa Campos for instance: it was just a bicycle ride away. My good friend George and I had agreed to meet in Lefkas city. After enjoying a drink on a patio, he got up. ‘Come, let's go for a bike ride.’ We left the city behind and arrived at a stunning olive grove after about ten minutes. What was that in the distance? Cheerful cottages in pastel colours surrounded by centuries-old olive trees. ‘I present to you: Casa Campos.' George laughed and I was blown away. Gorgeous! ‘Casa Campos was designed by my family. Everyone contributed but my son Ilias had the final say. He is a designer and an architect. The only requirement was that the trees had to stay where they were.’
Here I was. Exploring this secret spot between the olive trees step by step. The cheerful apartments each have a private terrace with a view of the greenery, olive trees and the beautiful shaded spots they create. The interior is modern yet homey with a Greek and Italian atmosphere. With wooden ceilings, thick beds and colourful details. ‘Let’s take a walk’, George said when I had seen everything. Well, not everything: the garden is 5,000 m2 and there is a brand-new swimming pool. That is when George stopped: ‘How about the beach?’ I looked at him with question marks in my eyes. ‘By bike?’ ‘Just ten minutes’, he smiled. I love to ride a bike with George. ‘I'm up for it, as long as we come back here afterwards!’
