George walked me to the villa where I’d be staying. We were talking about the magnificent island when I noticed a sign that said ‘Vineyard Vertzamo’. ‘I didn’t know there’s a vineyard here! Can I taste the wine?’ I asked enthusiastically. George laughed. ‘Sadly, the vineyard is long gone, Eliza.’ He saw the curious look in my eyes and proceeded to explain.
Vertzamo Villas used to be his grandfather’s vineyard. When his grandfather decided to give up on the vineyard, George and his brother took over. They didn’t want to cultivate wine so they went on to build four villas there instead. Of course, they always kept the surroundings in mind. ‘We built the villas around the existing nature as much as possible’, George said. I nodded and looked around. They had done a great job. Wherever I looked, I saw olive trees creating beautiful shaded spots. ‘We’re here, Eliza!’, George pointed to a cute pink villa. Wow! The villa was surrounded by greenery and I saw a magnificent private swimming pool. I couldn’t wait to spend some time here, enjoying a good book in the shade of one of the olive trees...

Are you booking a holiday with own transportation? Then the rental car is not included in your trip and you can (at some destinations) book the rental car if you are interested. When you book your rental car, you can pick it up at your destination and drive to your accommodation yourself. The transport to the pick-up point of the rental car is arranged by you.
