The Greek sisters Nantia and Anthoula had invited me to stay at their Villa Olga Lounge Hotel on Lefkas. And what a dreamy place it is: a spacious, refreshing swimming pool, sweet owners, local cooking workshops and traditional Greek food. Every time I visit this hotel, I am pampered to the extreme. They even arrange the best boat trips for their guests!
When I arrived, I was surprised with a drink and two Greek pecks on the cheek. ‘Welcome, Eliza! How great to have you back!’ said Anthoula. We passed the garden as she walked me to my room. The water in the spacious swimming pool was reflecting the sunlight and I dreamed away at the sight of the daybeds by the water. I was in for a relaxing week! There is a small restaurant next to the swimming pool where you can dine by request or enjoy a refreshing drink. It is also where home-made Greek breakfast is served every morning.
As soon as I walked into my room, I plopped down on the bed. The room is spacious with traditional details: the bed has Greek decorations, the mirror is gold-coloured and matches the authentic little lamps on the wall. I was going to enjoy this week. I had 30 minutes to relax before heading out for a cooking workshop by a real local! A great place to learn about the authentic Greek ways.
