I was on the beach of Vassiliki, lounging on a comfy beach chair. Through my dark sunglasses, I was watching a sea of windsurfers braving wave after wave. Nice and comfy in the Lefkan sun, I could watch them for hours. Later that day, I would visit my friend George and his son Stathis. They built some typically Greek villas with a modern touch in the neighbourhood, honouring the beautiful beaches in the area.
As I parked my car at Amousso Beach Villas, I heard the melodic and unmistakable sounds of Greek music. It was Stathis with a peculiar guitar in his hand. He later told me that the traditional instrument is called a bouzouki. A professional musician, Stathis had always dreamed of building a holiday location together with his father on the island where he had spent his youth. It was bound to be a success with George’s many years of experience and Stathis’ creativity.
Excited, George and Stathis walked me over to the villa. We entered through the back door and as we were crossing the natural stone patio, we were met by a magnificent view. Nothing but open sea. It is difficult to to put into words how much I relished that moment. I couldn’t wait to take a dip in my very own private infinity pool. I looked behind me and was struck by the beautiful contrast between the clear blue water and the style of the traditional stone villas. Surrounded with a fence, the garden offers all the privacy you need to enjoy the peace and quiet. A holiday at this remarkable location on Lefkas was music to my ears.
