"Let’s immerse ourselves in the traditional Lefkan lifestyle!" Manos looked at me smiling. I wasn’t going to say no to that! As soon as we arrived at the village square of Karia, I picked up the aroma of fresh oregano. The smell of lefkas! "We use a lot of oregano in our dishes. We love the flavour so much that we even dedicate an annual feast to honouring the herb."
I roamed around the square, smiling. Manos quickly returned with delicious fresh bread drizzled with olive oil, salt, oregano, tomatoes and feta. I tasted the local flavours and felt the same joy that had overwhelmed me when Manos had shown me my holiday residence earlier that day. My thoughts drifted to Mounty Island. After following a meandering little road through the mountains, we had reached one of the most beautiful villas I had ever seen. I had feasted my eyes: the villa has an authentic interior with light colours for a serene atmosphere. I had overlooked the clear blue bay from the private swimming pool in the garden.
"Eliza?" Manos pulled me out of my day dream. "Do you want to taste some of this wine?" I nodded with a smile. Such joy!
