‘And this petra’, the Belgian owner Ulrike said while stroking a large, old boulder incorporated into the wall of the reception building, ‘is very old. Ioannis found it when doing some excavation work just before we started to build this place. Probably a relic from the Dorian era, remarkable isn’t it?’ I nodded and sat down with my back against an olive tree while Ulrike fetched the keys to my bungalow. Auberge Kalopetri has a stunning location: a large open terrain with a view of the sea from every corner. Hmm... time to close my eyes for a moment, I thought. The ringing of goat bells, the aroma of citrus fruits and sage...

'Eliza? Don't you think your bed would be much more comfortable?’ Ulrike smiled when she saw the startled look in my eyes. We laughed and entered the bungalow. ‘Let me know if you want to join us for dinner!’

I set out to explore immediately and found a beautiful mix of rural and contemporary styles. Light colours and lots of natural materials such as wood and stone. And finished with a tasteful interior including a gorgeous natural stone sink. Designed with attention to detail. It felt like I had gone back in time!

The best way to discover your destination is by car!

Are you booking a flight holiday? Then a rental car of the lowest category (Small Class) is selected as standard for your trip and you have the option of upgrading the rental car. You can pick up the rental car at the airport and drive to your accommodation yourself.
