Towards the end of my holiday on Zakynthos, I actually stumbled upon the Stamaris family's Aresti Mountain Resort by accident. That morning I had snorkelled at one of the rocky bays of the island and then had a bite to eat at a restaurant. I hadn't ordered my drink yet or Fenia Stamaris came and sat next to me. She turned out to be the owner of a large estate further down the road and she also told me that she not only worked her land herself, but also rented out a couple of luxury villas. And of course I was interested!
Fenia let me come along and immediately gave me a tour. Walking around her gigantic estate, you immediately see the love the family has for the island. The old farmhouse has been restored to its original state and the villas, each with its own garden and swimming pool, have been built according to the local architecture. The red earth is fertile, olives, vines and fruit trees grow in abundance and the land smells deliciously of thyme and sage. What a space and tranquillity! There was nothing else to do than to extend my holiday a bit. Because a week in this wonderful place was not to be missed!
