October is a cruel month for us in Britain. Summer has faded and we know what’s around the corner! In southern Europe, though, you can still enjoy the sun and some nicely gentle temperatures. Envy or jealousy? No, totally not! I prefer to view a sun holiday in October as a sensible stockpiling of Vitamin D.

It’s just a shame I can’t stay for the entire month!

Authentic Cyprus has long sunny days, and Sicily offers its famous cuisine to boot. Portugal is a particular favourite this time of year, where I love exploring the stunning natural beauty of the Algarve.
