Well, it’s human nature to want to want a bit more sun, isn’t it? That’s why I often recommend to friends to take a holiday in September. It’s still lovely in the Mediterranean, with plenty of sun to bask in, but you also get the wonderful benefit that it’ll be quieter than in peak season.

My September break often takes me to the Canary Islands. The southern location and subtropical climate make this Spanish archipelago the ideal place to escape the cooler days at home. Rhodes is another one of my September faves. It has wonderful late summer temperatures, making for a great sun destination this time of year. Is there anything better than enjoying a cool drink on your private terrace on a balmy evening?
