I blinked my eyes. Was I dreaming? Small round cottages with pointy roofs were scattered around the green hilly landscape. Trulli! These snow white cottages are an inherent part of Puglia’s history and this town, Alberobello, is full of them. What an enchanting sight.
I entered the garden through a creaking wooden fence and passed many olive and lemon trees while I made my way down a stone path. Leonardo Trulli Resort looks like a fairytale forest. The enchanting trulli were surrounded by purple flowers and white curtains at the entrances were flapping in the wind. This location has a remarkable history: the original owner, Leonardo Cardone, served in the army in the early 20th century. After the war, he was able to return to his beloved Puglia where he built these trulli for his family. The story of hope and love is tangible throughout the resort.
"Are you sleeping?" I opened my eyes and saw Silvana’s smile. I must have dozed off in the hammock. She asked if I was in for some late breakfast. Back in the dining hall, the breakfast buffet caught my eye: freshly baked rolls, cake and savoury pies, fresh fruit, home-made jam... Even the food is magical here! As if I was still dreaming.
