Every time I visit Li Calizzi, it seems like I'm dreaming. I sat on the roofed patio overlooking the garden. Absorbing the flower-decorated gate, the calmly rocking water of the two swimming pools and the garden filled with olive trees and vines. The rural interior and characteristic look of the mansion add a romantic touch to the entire scene.
"Did you sleep well, Eliza?" I woke up from my daydream and saw the friendly face of Oscar. "Would you like some fresh-squeezed orange juice?" I nodded enthusiastically and Oscar walked over to one of the trees to pick a couple of oranges. It doesn’t get any fresher than that! My thoughts wandered back to the delicious dinner from the night before. In addition to their incredible daily breakfast, I also had a magnificent meal at Li Calizzi’s restaurant. The chef uses all kinds of traditional Puglian products in his dishes. I couldn’t wait to find out what the authentic kitchen would be serving later that evening.
After breakfast, I sought some refreshment in one of the pools and got myself a fruity cocktail from the cosy pool bar. I took another refreshing dip and walked into the garden with my diary in hand. I found a nice spot in the grass under a centuries-old olive tree. "What a magnificent place, it’s almost like I'm dreaming...", was the first thing I wrote before dedicating an entire page to this dreamy location. Luckily, I wasn’t dreaming; this place was real!
