I took a sip of wine while Alessandro proudly spoke of the history of Masseria Panareo. When his great-uncle Renato found this gorgeous piece of land in 1987, he instantly decided to roll up his sleeves. Still a ruin at the time, it was the stunning view of the Puglian countryside that persuaded him. He decided to move in together with his wife and kids, and convert the place to a beautiful hotel. Before long, Masseria Panareo was born with 18 rooms, a restaurant and a farm. It was passed down the generations with a passion for hospitality coursing through the family's veins.
"In addition to our passion for Puglia, hospitality and good food, we always try to improve and surprise our guests", he said with enthusiasm in his eyes. All of their hard work was rewarded in 2008: Masseria Panareo was named the best hotel in Italy. "The whole family was there to celebrate the award. We are a true family business and proud of it. My son can’t wait to be the next in line", he smiled.
That is when his wife Valentina entered the room."Eliza! It's great to see you again. Alessandro, your mom needs you in the kitchen. Shall I keep Eliza company?" She gave me a wink. Alessandro went to the kitchen and I smiled. The Zezza family is what makes this place so special.

The kitchen at Masseria Panareo is a true family business. Owner Alessandro runs the farm with his father and brother, providing fresh vegetables and delicious olive oil. Mamma Donna turns these fresh products into delicious Italian dishes to fill your tummy.
