I barely noticed the elegant letters on a rock in front of the entrance: Residence Punta Falcone. I had almost driven past. The walls of the resort were painted in light brown and green camouflage colours to match the scenery. As a result, it's hard to notice what’s hidden between the trees. I turned onto the estate and wondered how I could've missed it: The terrain is gigantic and contains nine buildings each with five to six apartments. In the centre, I found a slightly lowered, gorgeous swimming pool. A pleasant prospect because a dip was exactly what I needed.
As I slid the key into the lock of the apartment, a salty sea breeze tickled my nose. I turned around and was looking straight at the azure blue sea. What a view! I saw a gardener with a wide straw hat working the garden. He stopped when he noticed my speechless gaze at the sea and laughed. ‘There’s a private beach down there, for our guests only! Just follow the sandy path past the green hedges and you'll get there in no time. Why don’t you take a look?'
Fifteen minutes later I had sunk into one of the loungers on the beach. My bikini had the same colour as the swimming pool-blue water I was about to take a dip in. Shrouded in a camouflage colour of my own, I was nowhere to be found. What a great feeling.
