When you’ve just seen one of the highlights of your life, you don't expect to experience yet another outburst of happiness a half hour later. Right after I had marvelled at the lava rolling across the slopes of mount Etna, life surprised me with Tenuta de Roccadia. A colourful agriturismo with botanical gardens, valleys with orange trees, blissful serenity and the magical mount Etna in the distance. "When I first saw Roccadia, it was like finding a beautiful woman", said Pietro. "I wanted to marry her. Together with my wife, I bought the centuries-old farm and converted it to Tenuta di Roccadia" he smiled while we both enjoyed the specialities of the restaurant.
At a 30-minute drive from mount Etna, I had found the estate where the sun always shines. I sneaked around the estate with its sunny yellow walls and pastel colours. The Tenuta is spacious and built on various levels with views of the hills. After some blissful exploration, I walked over to the reception desk where Pietro was waiting for me. He had spotted me a while before and my smile betrayed the fact that I felt the same thing as he did when he first entered his estate. "Welcome, like what you see?" he had winked before introducing me to the love of his life. Two swimming pools with palm trees and quiet loungers, the playground, the gardens, the cows and horses, the comfortable rooms with centuries-old wood and the sunny yellow colours...
And there we were, out on the patio, talking about love. "Un grande amor" I smiled. And yes, I will. Stay here. And promise my eternal loyalty to Tenuta di Roccadia.
