A first impression is usually enough to know if it’s a yes or a no. At Borgo Artimino, it was a clear yes with a big fat exclamation mark! I had been driving up a meandering mountain road that morning in the direction of Borgo Artimino where I was supposed to meet Lorenzo. I kept thinking: I'm almost there, only to find yet another bend ahead of me. Suddenly, a large hotel rose up in front of me. That is where I had an appointment with Lorenzo. He got into the car. ‘This is our hotel, Paggeria Medicea´, he said, ´Borgo Artimino´ is a little further up the road. Guests staying at the apartments also get to use the pool and tennis court here’. We could have walked there, surrounded by gorgeous cypresses, but the anticipation was just too much to bear.
After a couple of minutes, we drove into a stunning medieval town through a large stone gate. With a cosy little square, a restaurant and some shops. ´Benvenuti a Borgo Artimino´, Lorenzo seemed to say, though I wasn’t sure because the magnificent Borgo demanded all the attention I could muster. We passed narrow streets with centuries-old houses and finally arrived at the apartments. The interior was Tuscan through and through, combined with light and space, rural and vibrant colours. Lorenzo had returned to the hotel and I set out to explore the town. I stopped for a moment, overlooking the Tuscan hills and vineyards as they were basking in sunlight. There is only one opportunity for a first impression, and if it’s a good one, there is no way back, I thought to myself.

Are you booking a holiday with own transportation? Then the rental car is not included in your trip and you can (at some destinations) book the rental car if you are interested. When you book your rental car, you can pick it up at your destination and drive to your accommodation yourself. The transport to the pick-up point of the rental car is arranged by you.
