I could envision the kids running around. Little Albizis, mini Medici and Rondinellis: how much fun they must have had on this hill. Before I got into the car to drive to this stunning villa, I had walked into the book store to buy a book about the Renaissance. After all: Florence is the ultimate Renaissance city. And here I was, on a lounger by the pool, overlooking the green hills and vibrant city. I focused on the pages and read about how this hill called Fiesolel used to be a popular attraction for the rich families of Florence back in the day.

Today, with all the luxury of Villa Fiesole, this holiday destination feels absolutely perfect. I heard some shuffling and looked up. Dinner tables were being set on the large patio. Guests were enjoying some pre-dinner wine on their private balconies. And me? I glanced at the hills around me and could swear I saw the young Medici running around.

The best way to discover your destination is by car!
