It was like I had travelled back to the middle ages. When I arrived at my Tuscan holiday destination, Canonica di Cortine, I realised that this place isn’t a single hotel but an entire village! It consists of multiple old buildings that have been preserved in an impressive state. I passed a chapel, a watchtower and a castle. And all of that surrounded by an old stone wall and stunning vineyards and olive trees.
Stefano gave me a warm welcome. He and Lucia are the proud owners of this remarkable town. Canonica di Cortine isn't just any holiday destination. Stefano told me that it goes back all the way to previous generations. Everything in Canonica di Cortine is from Stefano’s family's past.
I would be staying in a room inside the old watchtower. Such tasteful decoration. The antique furniture is a perfect match for the atmosphere at Canonica do Cortine! I couldn’t wait to look around.
Where to begin? Every little detail I encountered on my walk was traditional and well-preserved. Who knows what has happened here in the past and who have walked these streets. Such a remarkable place, full of memories! One thing is for sure: people have enjoyed this breathtaking setting and the magnificent weather for eons before I finally arrived to do the same.
