I had been told that Quinta das Portelas is a beautiful place in the centre of the Algarve. My drive there was full of expectations. Passing the most magnificent landscapes, my heart rate started to rise. That is when I spotted it in the distance: a true paradise.
The Dutch owner, Lanny, was waiting for me. He gave me a large glass of orange juice, freshly squeezed and from his own orchard. Lanny told me he had fallen in love with this place the first time he visited the Algarve in 1996. The friendly people, the blue sea and the landscape had captivated him. He bought the quinta in 2000 and completely renovated it by himself.
We were surrounded by aromatic flowers and fruit trees and the inviting pool was glistening in the sun. Lanny walked me through his gorgeous gardens where I discovered two waterfalls and a pond full of fish. We were looking at the snow-white apartments above us, built in a typically Portuguese style and surrounded by palm trees. ‘Do you like it?’, Lanny asked. I nodded. ´Such a paradise, I can see why you fell in love with the place.´

Are you booking a holiday with own transportation? Then the rental car is not included in your trip and you can (at some destinations) book the rental car if you are interested. When you book your rental car, you can pick it up at your destination and drive to your accommodation yourself. The transport to the pick-up point of the rental car is arranged by you.
