I was on a road trip exploring southern Portugal. Driving around for hours and enjoying all the natural beauty this country has to offer. The green bushes on the mountains contrast with the white lime rocks of the bay of Setúbal. I could see Lisbon in the distance behind me. I decided to leave the coast and head into the mountains.
Right in the centre of this gorgeous scenery, I found the 16th-century Franciscan cloister of Arrábida. The cloister with its white buildings isn’t the only piece of history in this area. Because I had scheduled a stay at a remarkable holiday destination, the centuries-old windmill of Moinho do Marco! A stunning little location by the Costa de Lisboa, owned by the Spanish-French couple Guadeloupe and Lourent. They preserved the original structure of the Moinho from 1855 with massive wood and local stone and converted it to a gorgeous holiday location. The entire estate is drenched in their happiness. After a warm welcome by the family, I took a refreshing dip in the pool. I let my mind wander while enjoying the swallows passing by, the setting sun and the fragrance of flowers. Before getting into my bed at the top of the windmill, I stood outside to enjoy the magnificent sea view. An unforgettable spot!
The 3-bedroom apartment is the only one with a pool. The 2-bedroom apartment does not come with a pool.
