Several weeks ago, someone recommended a remarkable destination: Villas del Alba in Andalusia, just outside Malaga. Their stories about the high-spirited owner motivated me to head over there as quickly as possible. And there I was, relaxing on the porch, listening to the history of the Dutch owner who had just welcomed me with open arms.
’We first got to know Spain in the eighties’, Jeroen said with a blissful smile. ‘Years later, we had an opportunity to create our own little paradise here in southern Spain and didn’t have to think twice.’ I was delighted to hear all about their adventures. Before moving to Spain, Jeroen had been running a diving school in a small town on the west coast of Australia for twelve years. They then brought their two daughters on a trip to Africa, the United States and back to Europe. The family ended up in beautiful Alhaurin de la Torre and once again managed to create a remarkable place.
Jeroen had brought me a cold glass of ice tea which I was enjoying from the comfort of a lounger by the edge of the pool. After he left, I looked around to absorb my surroundings. I saw three stunning detached wooden villas behind me. To my side, I could see the coast of Malaga and the endless inlands of the Sierra de Mijas. Clearly, I was in for a remarkable holiday in Andalusia. ‘So, this is how epicureans live’, I thought. ‘The best things are achieved by the brave.’

When you book your rental car, you can pick it up at your destination and drive to your accommodation yourself. The transport to the pick-up point of the rental car is arranged by you.
