Rasja has been a good friend of mine from the Netherlands for a long time. In 2019, she and Wouter decided to make her dream come true. Together they started a beautiful bed and breakfast in Andalusia; Cortijo La Zapatera. After the many stories about the authentic place, I am going to see it with my own eyes.
I am warmly welcomed when I arrive at the cortijo. "It is so good to see you again, Eliza!" says Rasja. The Dutch owners show me all the beauty of their Spanish location: the refreshing swimming pool, the endless views and the vineyards from which they will produce their own organic wine. The rooms, too, are a warm bath to come home to. My spacious room is decorated in the typical style of Andalusia: a combination of Spanish and Moroccan.
We end the tour at one of the honesty bars. The couple proposes to prepare a delicious three-course meal for me tonight. Of course, I am not going to turn down an offer like that! Rasja and Wouter know exactly what to do to pamper me. "Relax, unwind, enjoy!" is the motto and that is exactly what I am going to do here.
