Getting up wasn’t difficult. I knew that a delicious, complete breakfast was waiting for me, just like the days before. In the best of moods, I walked over to the large patio of Villa Ignacia. I picked a chair and relished the view of Andalusia’s rolling hills. It wasn’t long before Sophie, the Dutch owner, approached me. ‘We’ve got fresh fruit from the garden for you at the buffet, Eliza. Would you like some coffee?

An hour after enjoying Sophie’s extensive breakfast, I got into the car. The impressive city of Ronda is just 7 kilometres away from Villa Ignacia. After a fifteen-minute drive, the city and the Puente Nuevo emerged in the distance, a magnificent bridge that acts as an access gate. I gazed at the 120-metre long bridge for several minutes.

I explored this remarkable and typically Spanish city for a while before returning to Villa Ignacia and spending the rest of the day by the pool. The owners, Fran and Sophie, were gardening. And clearly enjoying their remarkable little spot, as was I...
