The sun was shining in a clear blue sky when I drove onto the vast estate of El Nus de Pedra. I was back in my beloved Catalonia and had an appointment with my old friend Gabriela who was spending the week there with her two sons. She had sounded so excited when she called to invite me over. Which had sparked my curiosity about this rural little paradise.

As soon as I got out of the car, I saw Pedro and Rafael sprinting towards me. Oh how much Gabriella’s two adorable children with their dark curls and tanned little bodies had grown. They were just babies when I had last seen them. Gabriella had a big smile on her face and all three of them proceeded to welcome me with kisses. ‘Eliza, you HAVE to stay here a couple of days’, she said convincingly, ‘We have some catching up to do! The boys love this place and the owners really know how to pamper their guests. Going the extra mile is an understatement! They will give you the real Catalan rural experience like nobody else. And we can explore the area on bikes or even horses! Can you imagine that?’ Gabriella's eyes were shining with enthusiasm and it wasn’t long before she introduced me to the extremely hospitable and warm owners, Josep and Montse.

We found ourselves a quiet corner in the spacious garden with a view of the peaceful green surroundings. Such beauty! I got comfy and took off my sandals. Josep brought us two glasses of cava and Gabriela and I toasted to our friendship and to the Catalan rural lifestyle...

The best way to discover your destination is by car!

Are you booking a flight holiday? Then a rental car of the lowest category (Small Class) is selected as standard for your trip and you have the option of upgrading the rental car. You can pick up the rental car at the airport and drive to your accommodation yourself.
