My good friend Paco invited me to spend an afternoon fishing at sea. The sea around Lanzarote is one of the richest waters with a wide variety of tropical fish. On the boat, I struck up a conversation with adventurer Felip. ‘We even catch small sharks sometimes’, and while showing me the ropes, he told me all about his bungalows called El Caserio de Guime. ‘Why don’t you come by for dinner tonight? We’ll talk some more’. I smiled and accepted without hesitation. ‘Will you show me around Caserio de Guime?’. ‘Of course’. Felipe’s smile grew wider. ‘You can even stay with us if you want!’
After a day's worth of sea breeze in my hair, we arrived at his pride and joy. Anna and Felip own three bungalows and are very strict about the quality. The bungalows were built in the 18th century in the style of the island and retained their character throughout the centuries. Felip and Anna are committed to hospitality and quality. As they showed me around the estate, I noticed the absolute perfection as well as their sound understanding of what their guests want. The bungalows offer plenty of space, both indoors and out. A comfy sofa in the living room, a good bed and a real sense of coming home. All wrapped in the atmospheric and authentic interior style of the island. The outside area is completely private. ‘Holiday is about unwinding’, he said. Looking at the private swimming pool and the dining table in the shade, I thought the same thing. I decided to stay and invite some friends over. Plenty of room for some good company!
That evening, I was served the island’s best sea bass, freshly caught and straight from the grill. I asked Felip and Anna how they had ended up at this stunning location. ‘We were spending a short holiday here and simply fell in love with the island. We followed our intuition and decided to build our future here. We spent quite some time looking for the perfect spot. And we found it in the end, just look around!’
