"Walking and tasting the best wines, that's what you want!" Raquel, the owner, had said when she came to see how we were doing this morning. I looked at her and chuckled. How well she knew me! Not surprisingly so, as I have been to Casa El Morro several times, which is also Raquel's and only 1.5 kilometres from here. It has been one of my favourite places on the island for years. Every time again I am pampered, nothing is too much for Raquel. I often think back to her yoga classes and how relaxing they were. So when I heard that she had opened a new finca, I knew where my next trip would take me. I had to see it.
After a 15-minute walk, we pass a wine grower who is busy at his grape plantation. He greets us with a pat on his big straw hat. "Our first stop is Bodega Stratvs," the guide calls over his shoulder, "the youngest and most modern bodega in this wine region. The techniques are so advanced that the wine here is of very high quality. The architecture of the farmhouse and its surroundings are also special: it fits perfectly into the landscape we are now walking through. And on the beautiful terrace you will soon be able to taste a glass." I look to the side and see my friend Athina also smiling. "Mmmmm, I can almost smell the wine", she says, smiling. I smile back, stick my nose in the air and sniff the sweet smell of grapes. The guide quickens his pace. "The winegrower is waiting for us!"
